Olivia Alice Silveira, 93, died peacefully in her sleep on July 9, 2014. Born July 26, 1920, the eldest of 10 children born to the late Jose and Maria Cunha in Capelo, Faial, Azores (Portugal). She married Jose G. Silveira in 1945. In 1959, following a devastating volcanic eruption in Faial, they emigrated to the United States for better lives for themselves and their 3 children. They settled in Half Moon Bay in 1960, working in the floriculture industry for many years and starting their own business. Olivia was a dedicated daughter who helped her parents care for her 9 siblings, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Olivia is survived by her children, Joe Silveira, Carmen Monteiro, and Mary Smith (Brent), grandchildren, Michael Monteiro (Virenea), Christina Nunes (David), Benjamin Smith, and Matthew Smith, and great-grandson, Hayden Monteiro. Her siblings Antonio Cunha, Maria Cunha, Angelina Silveira (Alfred), Jaime Cunha (Manuela), sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Jose, her brothers, Jose S. Cunha, Daniel S. Cunha, Gabriel S. Cunha, Manuel S. Cunha, and Onofre G. Cunha, Sr.
