Josephine A. Miller

Born on June 23, 1918 in Half Moon Bay, CA., passed away on August 8, 2012 in Jackson, CA. She is survived by her sister, Bernice Lews also of Jackson and nephew Ken Brown and his wife Jerilyn of Pioneer, CA. She is also survived by other nieces, nephews and cousins. Josephine lived in various places in California as well as other states but spent most of her years living in the San Leandro and Hayward area. She was a member of the Culinary Union and as a young woman worked as a waitress on the Matson Line Cruise Ships. On one cruise to Hawaii she had the opportunity to meet and have her picture taken with Elvis Presley. He was a passenger on the ship on his way to Hawaii to film the movie Blue Hawaii, this was a high light of her life. She owned several restaurants during her food service career and also worked for many years at the Blue Dolphin restaurant in Hayward. She loved to crochet and made many beautiful items for her family and friends.
