Helen Valentine Watt, 1914-2014

Helen Valentine Watt passed away at 99 years of age, on March 16, 2014, after a short illness. Born Helen Marie Valentine, on June 9, 1914, Helen lived her entire life in Half Moon Bay. Helen was the granddaughter of Manuel Costa, one of the first settlers in Half Moon Bay.
Mrs. Watt and her late husband, Edward James Watt, made their home for over 50 years at Martin's Beach, where they supervised and managed the beach and operations there. One of her last desires was to visit the beach where she and Ed lived happily together for so many years. Helen and Ed were married for 61 years before his passing in 1997.
Mrs. Watt was an active member of the Children's Home Society and the Peninsula Children's Theatre. She was also a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church in Half Moon Bay.
Celebration of life will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 25 and 26, 2014. Friends and family will gather at Miller Dutra Coastline Chapel & Funeral Home, 645 Kelly Street in Half Moon Bay, California, on Tuesday, March 25. Visitation will begin at 4 P.M. and a Rosary in Mrs. Watt's honor will begin at 7 P.M. on Tuesday Evening.
Services and Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church, 400 Church Street in Half Moon Bay, at 11 A.M. on Thursday, March 26, 2014. Interment will follow at Skylawn Memorial Park, Hwy 92 at Skyline Boulevard, San Mateo, California.
Helen Valentine Watt was preceded in passing by her husband, Edward James Watt, and her brother, Walter Valentine.
Helen will be missed by her many friends who loved her for her warm smile and gracious demeanor. Helen Valentine Watt will be remembered always as a true patriot from Half Moon Bay, her home and favorite place in the entire world.
