Obituary for Megan Alyss Soros

November 6, 1984 - May 21, 2018
Davenport, California | Age 33

Megan lived with her family in Davenport, California and worked as a masseuse at Costanoa. Megan lost her battle with stomach cancer after an amazingly brave and courageous seven-month fight. She had many more things she planned to do in her young life. She expressed many wishes, becoming a chef, starting a sea glass business, helping others with physical therapy and massage, only to state a few. Most of all wanted to raise her two beautiful children: Jordan, 5 years and Julien, 7 months.

Megan was an AMAZING mom; her two children are evidence of this. Megan's legacy is "treating others the way you wish to be treated" and it is abundantly apparent in her daughter, Jordan. Megan loved the outdoors, particularly the ocean and surfing. Megan was the epitome of the "California Surfer Girl". Megan also had an amazing singing voice, a songbird for her young children. Friends made her the most beautiful Ocean Quilt (in her colors of blue, green, turquoise & purple) which kept her warm as she lived out her days. The quilt will ultimately be passed to her children.

Megan passed peacefully at her childhood home in Moss Beach, surrounded by her loving family. We are certain that Megan felt comfortable and truly loved by both family and friends, at the time of her passing. Jordan knew her mom was a lion; Megan was always the lioness protecting her family.

Megan is survived by her husband, Marcel Soros; her two children, Jordan Marlo Soros and Julien William Soros; her parents, William and Kelly Huber of Moss Beach; her brothers: Ryan Huber of San Francisco and Matthew Huber of Santa Cruz; in-laws: Michael Soros, Julie Miller of Soquel and Lili Van Hoorn of Capitola; grandparents: Marv and Flo Huber of Minster, Ohio and Gerry and Jerry Cox of Modesto.

A "Celebration of Life" for Megan will be held at Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz on Saturday, June 16th in the late morning, officially at noon. A "Paddle Out" will ensue in remembrance of the beautiful Megan, in her spiritual and most loved "place" in the world.

In lieu of flowers, the family supports Mission Hospice as a place to make a gift in Megan's memory. Further, Megan's husband has set up accounts in the names of their children, his e-mail address is:

It is clear, the memory and legacy of Megan Alyss Huber Soros will live on forever.
