Tribute & Message From The Family

Edward Joseph Cozzolino, October 1, 1958 - September 27, 2019

Edward Joseph Cozzolino passed away on September 27th surrounded by family. Eddie was born in San Mateo and lived his entire life on the Half Moon Bay coastside.

Known throughout town as Uncle Eddie, you could always catch him driving around in his truck visiting and waiving to everyone he knew. He could be described as a Half Moon Bay icon, a generous spirit, and a stubborn cowboy with a huge heart.

Eddie loved nothing more than being around family and friends, riding horses, and going to the rodeo. He idolized John Wayne and loved his Oakland Raiders and SF Giants.

Eddie graduated from Half Moon Bay High School in 1977 and worked for the family business most of his adult life selling flowers and produce. He was a celebrated and active member of the community, serving as president of the IDES Society in 2008 and volunteering at Chamaritas, Pumpkin Festivals, and any other town event. If he was asked, he would be there.

Eddie is preceded in death by his father Vincent James Cozzolino, and is survived by his mother Mary Alice, his son Vincent James and wife Brittney, his sister Linda and husband Mike, his brothers Jimmy and Johnny and wives Diana and Jennifer, and his many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 6th at Miller Dutra from 5-7pm, and a mass will be held on Monday, October 7th at Our Lady of the Pillar at 11am with a reception at IDES Hall to follow. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.

Condolence & Memory Journal

I'm so sorry to hear of eddie's passing. I got to know him when he had a booth at the senior center's annual Taste of the Coast event. He and I served food to the patrons and he was always so friendly and sociable to me. I had no idea he had been ill. Please try and take comfort in knowing what a super person he was.

My Dear One Beloved Eddie,
We met at one of the famous Chappiono Crab Feasts at the IDES hall 2005. I was dancing and spinning around with a friend and I turned around and "Boom" there he was just staring at me and it felt like a "Lighting Bolt" entered my heart it was Love and 1st sight. After awhile we got to know each other he said he saw me working at Cunha's Country store years earlier and he said to himself "I will meet her someday" and years later we did meet. He is a Country boy ;me a City girl. Complete opposites but yet we fell in love..He took me to my 1st and last Rodeo Show at the Cow Palace...True Cowboy at Heart...Taught me about "Duck Hunting' and so much more. I was blessed to walk by his side for Chamarita in Half Moon Bay and Bay Area walks ..everywhere we went he was received with love ; respect and laughter. Such a wonderful smile and generous soul he was. One thing I can say about Eddie, he walked and talked his truth and followed his heart ; that is why I know he is so beloved by everyone who crossed his path. I know he loved John Wayne ...but the other person I say he emulated was Frank Sinatra...Frank "did it his way" Eddie lived his life "hard" the true Cowboy that he was.... "his way " with Joy and Love and Laugher. We had 1 magical year as a couple together and then after that remained friends since the last 13 years..To All of his family I send you my Heartfelt Love and Sympathy now and Always. Let's all sing Frank Sinatra's signature Song " I "Eddie" did it "his" My Way................" In light and love Donna Cher

I always liked him.

We ran into each other in some COMPLETELY random place
@ 25-30 years ago, & he didn't miss a beat, and he said.......

"Hey, Hilde."

So I said:
"What's up, Eddie ?"

Like we'd just seen each other the week before.

It was super-weird, since I didn't think he knew
me from Adam's black cat in the first place, never
mind 100 years after high school.

Walk with the Goddess, Friend.
